Talk about a FMCG brand creating a social media call-to-action in support of the Malaysian contingent, aiming to break the world record by gathering 10,000 "Go! Malaysia Go!" Cheers. Yes, we're talking about Dutch Lady Malaysia. It has created a music video for the campaign (performed by Faizal Tahir), a Facebook application to submit your cheers, and digital promotions running on Twitter, blogs, YouTube and other major search engines. There isn't any kick-ass technology used here, just a simple plan through effective social media touch-points delivering the "Go! Malaysia Go!" spirit to Malaysians. I like the fact Dutch lady planned ahead and is leveraging on this year's schedule of major sporting events, while attempting to get a nation united behind Malaysia's sporting talents, all through digital media. A strategy of digital partnerships will definitely work in the brand's favour. What it is doing is showing the brand is not docile, but is ambitious and will continue to be. Hope it milks this experience big-time.
